New California weight loss plan

By Carol / September 20, 2012 /

An Edith Ann moment.

Remember Edith Ann, the little girl in the great big rocking chair played by Lily Tomlin on Laugh In? Yesterday I got to be Edith Ann. Or at least I got to sit in a very big chair and feel very much like a child.

A friend and I were driving down Arnold Drive south of Glen Ellen, California, and we passed this really big chair. I couldn’t resist. I whipped the car around and we went back. How often do you get a chance to sit in a chair like this?

Before that day, I’d been feeling as though I needed to lose some weight. Now I realize I don’t really need to lose weight. I just need to get really big furniture!

In honor of one of my favorite comediennes, here’s a clip of Edith Ann.

A delightful reminder of a wonderful artist and I love your idea about big furniture.

A wonderful post. I sat in a chair like that a few years back in Reno, Nevada. The hotel where I was staying had one in their main lobby. It made me feel like a kid again. What a terrific feeling.
    Thanks for sharing.

The first really big chair I saw was in a hotel lobby – I think at the Del Coronado. A friend with me jumped up in it and did a spot-on impression of Edith Ann. We laughed for days.

Fun post, Carol. Love Lily Tomlin! Thanks for the reminder of a happy time. I won’t even get started on the weight issue. Big furniture, big clothes… 🙂

She was the best. I also love her telephone operator character: “One ringy dingy …” And, yes, clothes in the right size, clothes that fit well enhance, regardless of weight.
